Overview

A real tool for real project workflows.

Backlog is a real product used to manage projects, track tasks, and organize product development workflows.

It runs as a service and is used daily, not as a demo or a prototype.

The problem

Existing tools were too heavy or too simple.

Existing tools were either too heavy or too simple for the team's workflow. We needed something in between.

  • Heavyweight trackers buried daily work under process and configuration.
  • Simple lists didn't support stories, sprints, or the structure a team actually needs.

Approach

Build on Piedpi with focused modules.

I built the tool using the Piedpi engine as a base, with custom modules for backlog management, user stories, and sprint tracking.

Reusing the engine let the work focus on the product experience rather than rebuilding infrastructure.

Solution

A lightweight tool that stays out of the way.

The solution is a lightweight, focused project management tool that keeps work organized without getting in the way.

Backlogs, stories, and sprints live in one place, tuned to how the team actually plans.

Engine

Piedpi engine with custom backlog and sprint modules.

Backend

PHP with PDO for data access and persistence.

Hosting

Production deployment on a managed VPS.
